Landscape Wide places, dramatic skies, distant horizons, and the quiet power of the land. These are photographs of landscapes that made me stop and take notice—sometimes because of the scale, sometimes because of the light, and sometimes simply because something about the place felt worth remembering.
The Grand Canyon is a very special place for me, and I can't stay away for too long. I began photographing there long before I really knew how to use a camera. This image was taken at Desert View, where I had found this wonderful viewpoint on an earlier trip. This time, the clouds completed the scene, and about fifteen minutes later the sky opened with pouring rain.
