Wide places, dramatic skies, distant horizons, and the quiet power of the land. These are photographs of landscapes that made me stop and take notice—sometimes because of the scale, sometimes because of the light, and sometimes simply because something about the place felt worth remembering.

Showing the true scale of the Grand Canyon can be difficult. I felt this vertical composition helped convey that size because the canyon and sky meet near the middle of the frame. The perspective allows the viewer to feel the enormous distance from the canyon floor to the sky.
