Flowers and plants seen a little differently—through light, shadow, shape, and texture. I am drawn to the character I find in them, from a flower just beginning to open to one beginning to fade. These photographs are less about identifying the plant and more about seeing the beauty and personality I find within it.

Though this flower looks a bit like a rose, it is really a cactus flower. It is one of the most elegant cactus flowers I have seen. The delicate petals and soft light reveal a beauty that seems almost unexpected from a plant that survives in such a harsh environment.
