Flowers and plants seen a little differently—through light, shadow, shape, and texture. I am drawn to the character I find in them, from a flower just beginning to open to one beginning to fade. These photographs are less about identifying the plant and more about seeing the beauty and personality I find within it.

Capturing the light in the center of an iris took me a long time. I didn't succeed until the evening, when there was only a small amount of light. That limited light finally revealed the intricate center of the flower in the way I had been trying to capture it.
