Flowers and plants seen a little differently—through light, shadow, shape, and texture. I am drawn to the character I find in them, from a flower just beginning to open to one beginning to fade. These photographs are less about identifying the plant and more about seeing the beauty and personality I find within it.

This dahlia is one of my favorites. I had jumped out of the car to photograph an old barn, but this dahlia was just outside the door of the car. The light was so wonderful that I had to stop and capture it. The barn turned out to be very boring after the dahlia.
