Seeing Differently
Familiar things can look very different when we stop and really look at them. A plant becomes curves and patterns, water becomes light and movement, and weathered wood reveals textures shaped by time. These photographs began with something I recognized, but I was drawn to what I saw when I looked closer. I invite you to look again and see what you may have missed before.

I was drawn to the contrast between the calmness of the water and the ripples moving across the Verde River. The circles were formed as the water moved around rocks, and if you look very carefully, you can see reflections of the rocks within those circles. Some of the rocks are partly covered as the water flows over them. The closer I looked, the more I found happening on the surface.
